Senior Thesis

Interaction Design Senior Thesis \\ September 2019 - May 2020

Updated Project Brief (1/27-1/31)

This week I plan to update my project brief, and try to stay on track during the semester. I think it’ll be good to give myself checkpoints and due dates for certain touchpoints. I’ll also try to schedule user testing sessions with others and hopefully receive feedback from Kate, who tested the game over the break. When I have downtime, hopefully I can begin to redesign the cards to match the visual style I'm going for.

Project Brief Spring 2020

After taking a month long break from thesis, I have a clearer vision of what I need to do for the rest of the semester. This is my updated brief where Fall 2019 should be accurate to what I completed last semester. Spring 2020 is more tentative at the end, but I have a general gauge of milestones I want to reach at certain times.

Research

https://slate.com/human-interest/2020/01/kobe-bryant-death-grief-parenting-care-and-feeding.html

After the recent news of Kobe Bryant passing, the topic of loss and grief became very apparent in media. After looking at this article, grief gets complicated when both a parent and child are affected. Who comforts who? It starts a very interesting conversation around how to navigate these types of conversations around a famous person passing away, or the dynamic between parents and younger children around death.

Visual Identity

This is the general feel and aesthetic I want the card game to have. The tones are warm and muted, making it approachable and comfortable.

Next Steps

This coming week I also plan to receive feedback from Kate as she playtested the game over the break. Once I use that feedback and playtest a bit more with others, I think I’ll be able to finalize the cards. From there I can move onto creating the visual identity. Once the cards are finished, I’ll be able to start designing a website, as it relies on marketing the game.
